General Volunteer Application

There are many exciting roles for 4-H volunteers! That’s why the community of dedicated 4-H volunteers stays with 4-H year after year. You too can share your talents by becoming a 4-H volunteer. Contribute just a few hours a month and make friends, benefit youth, serve your community and enjoy long-standing 4-H traditions!

4-H Group/Club Leader – Work with a group of young people, ages 5-18, on a regular basis. The group leader decides group meeting times, age, grade and number of youth that participate. Along with club members, choose one of your interests as the focus of the club and select from over 100 4-H curricula. 4-H has requests from many youth who want to join 4-H, but we need volunteers to work with them. Please consider volunteering for this cornerstone role in 4-H!

4-H Board or Committee Member – Work with other adults and youth on a Board or Council to manage various parts of the 4-H program in your county. These include Camp and Fair Boards, Advisory Councils, Animal Science Councils and Foundations. Experience with non-profit boards, finance and fundraising are especially helpful! Meeting frequency varies from quarterly to monthly.

4-H Middle Manager – Assist your regional Educator in organizing events, shows, recognition programs, camp and fair activities in your county. Get to know the wonderful 4-H community by contributing your office or organizational skills and gain useful non-profit volunteer experience.

4-H Fair, Camp or Competitive Event Volunteer –Help 4-H organize fun-filled, wholesome events for youth that take place on established fair grounds or at one of five 4-H affiliated camp grounds. Judge competitive events, such as public speaking or photography contests. Assist with event set-up, registration, or food services. Help 4-H serve local youth and families.

4-H Visual Presentation Coach – Use 4-H curriculum and resources to help young people develop their public speaking skills in preparation for the annual visual presentation event. Serve as a coach or organize activities to help every child build self-confidence and self-esteem.

4-H Workshop Leader – You can share your skills with others by teaching a workshop at one of our county, statewide or east coast events for youth or volunteers.

All volunteer roles include a specific service description, volunteer screening, third party liability coverage and the guidance of the Regional 4-H Extension Educator or senior 4-H volunteer. Call your regional Educator, fill out our Volunteer Application Form, and mail to your local office.
