Horses
No matter what your interest in horses may be, there is something for everyone in the 4-H horse project! Youth involved in the 4-H horse program area learn responsibility and commitment to a project. The time invested in caring, riding and training horses improves the quality of life for youth. Many youth compete in gymkhana shows to test the skills of both the horse and rider. There are also horse show competitions for halter and performance horses that are open to 4-H exhibitors. Other educational contests like horse judging, hippology and horse quiz bowl make an exciting learning experience. For more information, contact your local 4-H office. Note: Horse Project Verification Forms must be on file in the local 4-H office 90 days before the first 4-H show that the member will participate in that year. April 1st is the deadline if the youth plans to attend the New England 4-H Horse Show at the Eastern States Exposition.
